Today's honorary ringer: Eli Manning.
That's an easy one. Again pegged as the underdog on football's greatest stage. Again overshadowed by the sport's darling in Tom Brady. Again Super Bowl champ. The Giants took home their second championship in 5 years and their fourth in team history. Eli completed his first 9 passes of the game, a Super Bowl record. He got every receiver possible involved in the game. He made another incredible throw for a 38-yard gain connecting with wide receiver Mario Manningham on another improbable catch that will go down in Giant history.
Brady was also good. A real dual of elite QB's. He broke Montana's record of 13 with 16 consecutive completions. And in the end, the reluctant tush down. You gotta love it.
Meanwhile back on the farm...Habs come out on the right end of a 3-0 score by beating the Jets who seem to bring the best out of our lovely bottom feeding team. Carey played well for the shutout. The planet almost stopped turning when the world held its breath waiting for confirmation that Gomez had not scored. Ho hum.
More on super Sunday today, Monday.
